ABOUT ASIA THOGMARTIN

"Sometimes I just can't find the words for how I feel or what I think, so I paint. I am focused on my life growing up in Umtata, South Africa. I love that country: it's people, colors, traditions. These things are ingrained in me, so no matter what I paint, it comes through. Every piece represents a part of me. They are my memories, feelings and thoughts in design, value, and color form. Whether representational or abstract, my process is deeply personal and every mark is intentional."

Asia is the mother of two boys and holds a Ph.D. in Human Development and Family Studies at Oregon State University in Corvallis, Oregon.
